Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Developer with a strong command of Microsoft Azure Data Services to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SQL development alongside proven experience in Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly Parallel Data Warehouse), Linked Servers, and SQL Server Replication.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical data systems, contribute to architectural decisions, and help drive digital transformation initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust, scalable, and secure database systems that support our core applications and enterprise data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views for use in transactional and analytical systems.
  • Build and manage Linked Servers for seamless data integration between Azure SQL Databases, on-premises SQL Servers, and external data sources.
  • Configure and manage various SQL Server Replication types including Transactional, Merge, and Snapshot replication in both cloud (Azure) and on-prem environments.
  • Work extensively with Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly Azure PDW) to design high-performing, distributed data processing solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth SQL performance tuning, including analyzing execution plans, optimizing queries, and implementing best indexing strategies to improve throughput and reduce latency.
  • Monitor and optimize the health and performance of Azure SQL environments, ensuring availability, reliability, and scalability of all database components.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects and DevOps teams to design and implement data migration strategies, moving data from legacy systems to cloud-native platforms.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of database systems by implementing backup and recovery strategies, role-based access controls, and Azure Active Directory integration.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation covering database schemas, data flows, replication configurations, and performance tuning guidelines.
  • Support ETL development using tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or Azure Data Factory, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery across platforms.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Developer or Database Engineer, with a strong focus on Azure SQL and Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
  • Proficiency in writing complex T-SQL queries and scripts for both OLTP and OLAP workloads.
  • Deep expertise in SQL Server Replication (Transactional, Merge, Snapshot), including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid experience configuring and maintaining Linked Servers to facilitate cross-database queries and integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct SQL performance analysis, optimize slow-running queries, and design scalable indexing strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or Azure SQL Database.
  • Proficiency with performance monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Query Store, or third-party solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL security best practices, including role-based access, encryption, and compliance measures.
  • Familiarity with ETL and data pipeline tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or custom scripting solutions.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Microsoft Certifications such as Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automating database management and monitoring tasks in Azure.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL solutions (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB) and hybrid cloud data architectures.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration of database projects into DevOps workflows.
  • Prior exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies in a software development or data engineering environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and performance bonuses
  • Opportunities to work on cutting-edge cloud data technologies
  • A collaborative team environment where innovation is encouraged
  • Flexible work hours and remote-friendly culture
  • Learning and certification support for Azure and related technologies

If you are passionate about building scalable, high-performance database systems in the cloud and want to play a key role in our digital transformation journey, we would love to hear from you. Apply today and be part of a forward-thinking, data-driven team.
