We are seeking an experienced MicroStrategy Administrator to join our team, with a focus on the migration of MicroStrategy I-Server from Windows to a Linux-based environment. This role requires a hands-on approach to installation, troubleshooting, configuration, and security management of MicroStrategy components, both in non-production and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- MicroStrategy Migration. Lead the migration of MicroStrategy I-Server from a Windows environment to a Linux environment (AWS EC2). Ensure smooth functionality during the transition, maintaining the existing features of the system.
- Installation & Configuration. Install and configure MicroStrategy components such as System Manager, Command Manager, Package Migration, Object Manager, and Enterprise Manager on Linux (AWS EC2). Ensure the environment setup is in line with best practices and optimized for production workloads.
- Troubleshooting & Upgrades. Troubleshoot MicroStrategy installations and components in the Linux environment. Stay updated with current needs related to MicroStrategy infrastructure upgrades and carry out necessary changes for optimal performance.
- Security Management. Allocate, modify, and delete MicroStrategy Environment Security Roles to maintain a secure BI environment. Coordinate with the infrastructure team to ensure proper security protocols are adhered to during migrations and upgrades.
- System Administration & Maintenance. Work closely with the Infrastructure team to coordinate adaptive maintenance (including hardware changes, software patches, and tool upgrades) for the Data Integration environment in both non-production and production environments.
- Script Management. Experience in Windows batch scripts is a big plus, especially if you have the ability to convert them into Linux shell scripts for seamless integration into the new environment.
- Documentation & Process. Document the setup and configuration process for MicroStrategy components, ensuring comprehensive and clear documentation for the Dev and Prod environments. Provide insights into script conversions and adjustments needed for Linux.
- Production & Development Setup. Set up a MicroStrategy Utility Server on a Linux-based EC2 instance in the Dev environment. Ensure the current functionality of the Windows OS is replicated on Linux, and create detailed documentation for all steps and configurations required. Prepare a plan for the production setup (execution may depend on production freeze timing).
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with MicroStrategy. 6-10 years of hands-on experience with MicroStrategy administration, particularly involving server migrations and management across different environments.
- Linux Expertise. Solid experience with Linux (specifically on AWS EC2), including server setup, configurations, and troubleshooting in a production environment.
- Scripting Skills. Proficiency in converting Windows batch scripts to Linux shell scripts to ensure functionality is maintained after migration.
- Knowledge of MicroStrategy Tools. Familiarity with core MicroStrategy tools such as System Manager, Command Manager, Package Migration, Object Manager, and Enterprise Manager.
- Cloud and Infrastructure Experience. Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and cloud-based deployments, especially in relation to setting up and managing EC2 instances for MicroStrategy environments.
- Security & Access Control. Experience in managing and maintaining security roles within the MicroStrategy environment, ensuring that user roles and permissions are correctly allocated.
- Excellent Communication. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly with infrastructure and development teams, to ensure smooth migrations and environment upgrades.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- A proactive approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Good documentation skills to track all setup and configuration processes.
