Bob Smith

An IT grunt who has been working for manufacturing companies for way too long, since 1994, I have coded, analyzed and designed database applications. Having reached a point where my apprenticeship is complete, I am reaching out to help other professionals who struggle to balance the daily demands of our profession, against a real curiosity about cool stuff. I work in VB.NET, and SQLServer when I'm on the Windows side of the fence, Unix scripting, Progress and Oracle databases on the Unix side of the business. I dabble endlessly in TCL, Perl, Java, C++, basically whatever technology our users have brought in to our shop. If the gray hair is any clue, then a BS in Chemistry and a career change in 1994 to IT after years as an industrial chemist might be the explanation.
