October 14, 2025 — Acer’s latest convertible Chromebook, the Chromebook Plus Spin 514, is taking ChromeOS to the next level with on-device AI features powered by Google’s newest technology and MediaTek’s latest chip.

This isn’t just another Chromebook refresh. The Spin 514 is designed to blend power, portability, and intelligence in a single device that doubles as a tablet. Its 14-inch touchscreen (up to 2.8K resolution) rotates a full 360 degrees, letting you switch between laptop, tablet, and tent modes on the fly. Weighing just 1.36 kg (2.99 lbs) and promising up to 17 hours of battery life, it’s clearly built for all-day work — or binge sessions when you flip it into tablet mode.

Under the hood, it’s powered by the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra, a chip capable of 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI processing power. That means many of ChromeOS’s new AI features can run entirely on-device — no cloud connection required. Expect smoother multitasking, faster Android app performance, and more privacy for your data.

ChromeOS Gets Smarter

The new Chromebook Plus lineup taps into Google’s growing AI ecosystem. A few standout features:

  • Smart Grouping automatically organizes your tabs, files, and apps by category.

  • Gallery Image Editing brings AI-powered photo tools straight to your local storage.

  • Select to Search with Lens lets you grab info directly from images or videos — no typing required.

Beyond the Laptop

Acer also revealed two new Chromebox models for those who want ChromeOS in a desktop setup.

The Chromebox CXI6, powered by Intel’s Core 7 150U, supports up to four monitors — perfect for schools or enterprise workstations. Meanwhile, the Chromebox Mini CXM2 is a smaller, fanless option for tighter spaces, still capable of running up to three displays quietly.

Both models come with Enterprise Upgrade options, unlocking Google’s full suite of ChromeOS management and security tools for business environments.

A Bonus for Early Buyers

To sweeten the deal, Acer is bundling a 12-month Google AI Pro subscription with every Chromebook Plus Spin 514. The plan includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of cloud storage, and Gemini integrations inside Google Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, and Slides — making it easier to draft, analyze, and create with AI assistance built right in.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is available starting today, marking a big step forward for Google’s AI-powered ChromeOS ecosystem — and a signal that on-device intelligence is becoming the new normal for modern laptops.
