AHMEDABAD — February 2026 — Adani Group has announced a landmark commitment of $100 billion to develop sovereign AI infrastructure, positioning India to build and control its own large-scale artificial intelligence computing and data ecosystem.

The investment will focus on creating domestic AI capabilities, including data centers, advanced compute clusters, energy infrastructure, and supporting digital networks. Adani said the initiative is designed to strengthen India’s technological self-reliance and reduce dependence on foreign-controlled AI platforms and cloud infrastructure.

The company plans to integrate renewable energy assets with high-performance computing facilities, leveraging its existing strengths in power generation, transmission, and industrial infrastructure. By aligning energy supply with AI data center demand, Adani aims to build scalable and sustainable compute capacity within India.

The sovereign AI push comes amid growing global competition to secure access to advanced chips, computing power, and AI research capabilities. Governments worldwide are increasingly viewing AI infrastructure as a strategic national asset, similar to telecommunications and defense systems.

Adani said the $100 billion commitment will be deployed over multiple years and will include partnerships with technology providers, hardware manufacturers, and research institutions. The initiative is expected to generate significant employment across engineering, construction, operations, and AI research roles.

The group emphasized that sovereign AI infrastructure is not limited to hardware alone. It includes the development of domestic data governance frameworks, secure cloud platforms, and AI services tailored to Indian enterprises and public institutions.

With this commitment, Adani Group is signaling its intent to play a central role in India’s AI ambitions, aligning infrastructure scale with national digital strategy as artificial intelligence becomes a core driver of economic and geopolitical influence.
