Adobe has announced major updates to Adobe Firefly, significantly enhancing its AI-powered video creation capabilities with new precision editing tools, advanced camera motion controls, partner model integrations, and a limited-time offer of unlimited generations. The updates aim to give creators greater control over AI-generated video while keeping workflows fast, flexible, and production-ready.

A key highlight of the release is Prompt to Edit for video, which allows creators to make targeted changes to an existing AI-generated clip instead of regenerating it from scratch. Users can remove objects, replace backgrounds, adjust lighting, or modify framing using natural language prompts. Firefly now also supports camera motion reference, enabling creators to guide cinematic camera movements by providing a reference video and a starting frame—dramatically reducing trial and error during video generation.

Adobe is also expanding Firefly’s ecosystem with Topaz Astra video upscaling, now available in Firefly Boards. This addition allows users to enhance and upscale footage to 1080p or 4K, making it easier to restore archival content or prepare low-resolution clips for modern platforms. On the image side, Firefly now supports FLUX.2 from Black Forest Labs, delivering photorealistic image generation, improved text rendering, and multi-reference image support across Firefly, Photoshop, and soon Adobe Express.

Additionally, Adobe has launched the public beta of Firefly Video Editor, a browser-based creative assembly space designed for generative storytelling. Creators can combine AI-generated clips, live footage, music, and visuals using a lightweight multi-track timeline or text-based editing for interview-style content. To encourage experimentation, Adobe is offering unlimited image and video generations across Firefly’s video and image models—including partner models—until January 15 for eligible Firefly plans.

With these updates, Adobe Firefly continues to evolve from a generation tool into a full creative platform—giving creators end-to-end control from idea to final video output while maintaining commercially safe AI content generation.
