Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence startup known for its AI model Claude, has announced plans to open a new office in Seoul in early 2026. This will be the company’s third office in the Asia-Pacific region, following recent expansions in Tokyo and Bengaluru. The move highlights Anthropic’s commitment to deepening its presence in Korea amid robust regional growth, with Asia-Pacific run-rate revenues growing more than tenfold in the past year.

Rapid Growth and Strong Adoption in Korea

Korean users rank among the top five globally in both total and per capita usage of Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant. More than 25% of Claude Code’s user base is now based in Asia-Pacific, with Korea showing especially remarkable growth. Over the last four months, the number of active weekly Claude Code users in Korea has increased sixfold. Notably, a Korean software engineer currently holds the position of the top Claude Code user worldwide, underscoring Korea’s strong technical talent and enthusiastic adoption of the technology.

Korea is at the forefront of AI innovation in Asia and we’ve already seen strong adoption of Claude in the region. We built Claude to deliver both frontier capabilities and the safeguards needed for responsible deployment, and our local partnerships in Korea will help demonstrate what's possible when advanced AI meets Korea's world-class technical ecosystem and forward-thinking institutions.

Dario Amodei, Anthropic CEO and co-founder.

Strategic Alignment with Korea’s AI Ambitions

The Korean government recently declared its vision to position the country as one of the top three global AI hubs. Anthropic leaders plan to visit Seoul soon to engage with local customers and partners, signaling a shared dedication to supporting Korea’s ambitious AI development goals. The Seoul office will focus on collaboration with government agencies, research institutions, and industry players to promote responsible AI use across key sectors.

Driving Innovation in Local Industries

Korean companies are not just users but pioneers of AI deployment on the global stage. For example, Law&Company, a legal tech startup, integrates Claude to nearly double lawyer productivity while maintaining the necessary legal accuracy. Similarly, SK Telecom, Korea’s largest telecommunications provider, has partnered with Anthropic to build a custom AI-powered customer service model that is becoming a model for the telco industry worldwide.

Korean businesses are already some of the world’s most sophisticated users of Claude, particularly for complex coding and enterprise applications. Having a local presence means we can work more closely with these world-class enterprises and startups and give them the unique support they need.

Expanding the Local Team and Career Opportunities

Anthropic is building a dedicated local team in Seoul to cater to Korea’s unique technological and business needs. The company is actively hiring and encourages interested candidates to explore opportunities through its careers page. This expansion coincides with Anthropic’s broader strategy to triple its international workforce in response to rapidly rising demand outside the United States, with a focus on enterprise customers.
