Anthropic has announced Claude Corps, a new $150 million national fellowship initiative designed to help nonprofit organizations adopt and use AI more effectively. Named after Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude, the program aims to place trained AI fellows directly inside nonprofits to support real-world AI implementation and education.  

According to Anthropic, Claude Corps will recruit and train 1,000 fellows who will spend a year embedded within more than 400 nonprofit organizations across the United States. Participating nonprofits will also receive grants and free Claude credits to help accelerate AI adoption.  

How Claude Corps Works

The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between rapidly advancing AI technologies and organizations that often lack the resources or expertise to deploy them effectively.

Anthropic says fellows will help nonprofits:

• Integrate AI into daily operations

• Automate administrative tasks

• Improve research and data analysis

• Enhance fundraising efforts

• Increase organizational efficiency

• Train staff on responsible AI usage

Each participating nonprofit will receive a $10,000 grant in addition to Claude access and support from trained fellows.  

Partnership With CodePath

To launch the program, Anthropic is partnering with CodePath, a nonprofit organization focused on helping underrepresented and first-generation students enter the technology industry.

The partnership will create opportunities for early-career professionals interested in AI while simultaneously helping nonprofit organizations modernize their operations.  

Anthropic’s Broader Social Impact Strategy

Claude Corps is part of a larger effort by Anthropic to address the societal impact of AI.

The company recently announced additional investments focused on studying workforce disruption and the economic effects of advanced AI systems. Anthropic leadership has repeatedly emphasized the need to ensure AI benefits are distributed broadly rather than concentrated among a small number of organizations.  

Anthropic President Daniela Amodei said the company hopes Claude Corps can become a long-term model for helping communities adapt to AI-driven change.
