Anthropic⁠ has officially launched Claude Sonnet 5, the newest model in its Sonnet family, designed to deliver near-Opus-level intelligence for coding, agentic workflows, and everyday enterprise tasks—at significantly lower cost. The release strengthens Anthropic’s position in the rapidly growing AI agent market.  

According to Anthropic, Claude Sonnet 5 is its most agentic Sonnet model yet, optimized for long-running tasks where AI must plan, reason, use tools, and execute multi-step workflows autonomously. The company says the model brings capabilities that previously required larger and more expensive models into the faster, cheaper Sonnet tier.

Anthropic is positioning Sonnet 5 as a major upgrade for developers building autonomous agents, coding assistants, and enterprise AI systems.

Claude Sonnet 5 improves performance in:

This pricing strategy matters because agentic workloads consume far more tokens than normal chat interactions. Lower token costs make long-horizon AI agents more economically viable for enterprise deployment.
