AWS Adds Ethereum and Hyperledger Blockchain Support

Blockchain is one of the fastest growing technologies of today and Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud are in the race of blockchain offerings.

In a recent announcement, AWS announced support of two blockchain projects, Ethereum and Hyperledger. From the blog post announcement:

AWS Blockchain Templates provide a fast and easy way to create and deploy secure blockchain networks using open source frameworks. Blockchain is a technology that makes it possible to build applications where multiple parties can record transactions without the need for a trusted, central authority to ensure that transactions are verified and secure. Blockchain enables this by establishing a peer-to-peer network where each participant in the network has access to a shared ledger where the transactions are recorded. These transactions are by design, immutable and independently verifiable.

With AWS Blockchain Templates, you can deploy Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric frameworks using managed and certified AWS CloudFormation templates. AWS Blockchain Templates allow you to focus on building your blockchain applications instead of spending time and energy on manual setup of your blockchain network.

AWS Blockchain Templates deploy the blockchain framework you choose as containers on an Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster, or directly on an EC2 instance running Docker. Your blockchain network is created in your own Amazon VPC, allowing you to use your VPC subnets and network Access Control Lists. You can assign granular permissions using AWS IAM to restrict which resources an Amazon ECS cluster or Amazon EC2 instance can access.

To use AWS blockchain templates, there are no additional charges. Only charges will be the AWS resources used to run blockchain.
