REDMOND, Wash. — January 2026 — Microsoft has announced that Claude Opus 4.6, Anthropic’s most capable model to date, is now available through Microsoft Foundry on Microsoft Azure, expanding options for enterprises building advanced AI applications.

The addition brings Claude Opus 4.6 into Microsoft’s managed AI environment, allowing organizations to deploy the model for coding agents, complex reasoning tasks, and enterprise workflows while benefiting from Azure’s security, compliance, and scalability. Microsoft positioned the move as part of its broader strategy to support a multi-model ecosystem rather than relying on a single AI provider.

Claude Opus 4.6 is designed for demanding use cases that require deep reasoning, long-context understanding, and consistent performance. In Microsoft Foundry, the model can be used to power autonomous coding agents, assist with software modernization, support data analysis, and help automate business processes across teams.

Microsoft emphasized that availability through Foundry gives customers centralized governance and observability. Organizations can manage access, monitor usage, and deploy Claude alongside other models using a consistent set of tools, reducing operational complexity while maintaining enterprise controls.

The model’s strengths in reasoning and code understanding make it particularly suited for scenarios such as multi-step problem solving, agent-based systems, and workflows that span multiple tools or data sources. Anthropic noted that Opus 4.6 was built with reliability and predictability in mind, aligning with enterprise requirements for production AI.

Claude Opus 4.6 is available now in Microsoft Foundry on Azure for eligible customers. With the launch, Microsoft continues to position Azure as a neutral, enterprise-ready platform where organizations can choose from leading AI models while maintaining control, security, and flexibility as AI adoption scales.
