FIFA Moves NFT Platform to New Ethereum-Compatible Blockchain

FIFA has announced the launch of its very own Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchain, simply called the FIFA Blockchain. Designed to support its growing NFT ecosystem and fan engagement experiences, this new platform promises improved scalability, performance, and exciting new features.

FIFA will begin moving its current FIFA Collect NFT collection from the Algorand blockchain to the new system on May 20, 2025, at the latest. The organization has reassured users that they don’t need to take any immediate action—detailed guidance will be shared when the time comes.

As part of the migration, popular Algorand-based wallets like Pera and Defly will no longer be supported. Instead, users will connect through EVM-compatible wallets such as MetaMask, leveraging WalletConnect. Any collectibles listed on FIFA Collect will be transferred automatically unless users opt to delist them beforehand.

This blockchain change represents FIFA's increased push into the Web3 domain and goes beyond a simple technical update.  "FIFA Rivals," a free mobile football game, was released by FIFA and Mythical Games back in November 2024.  Players will be able to manage their football teams and participate in live matches when the game launches in full in the summer of 2025.

With its blockchain and a new wave of digital experiences, FIFA is signaling a serious commitment to innovation, bringing fans closer to the game through cutting-edge Web3 technology.
