As announced in April, Mozilla has now released the first version of Firefox Reality, a web browser built from the ground up to work on stand-alone virtual reality and augmented reality headsets. The browser is now available in the Viveport, Oculus, and Daydream app stores.
Firefox Reality enables users, to move between 2D websites and immersive web experiences, search the web using voice. You can use the microphone in your headset to search with Firefox Reality.
Upon opening the browser, users will be explored with immersive experiences that can be enjoyed on a VR headset directly from the Firefox Reality browser. Mozilla says it is working with immersive content creators around the world to bolster this lineup with games, videos, and new environments that will be added to the home screen over time.
"
We had to rethink everything, including navigation, text-input, environments, search and more. This required years of research, and countless conversations with users, content creators, and hardware partners. The result is a browser that is built for the medium it serves. It makes a big difference, and we think you will love all of the features and details that we’ve created specifically for an MR browser."
said Andre Vrignaud, Head of Mixed Reality Platform Strategy at Mozilla.
