Google Brings Gemini-Powered Chrome AI Features to India
Gemini in Chrome (1)

Google has announced that AI features in Chrome, including Gemini integration, are now expanding to India, marking a major step in bringing the company’s latest browser-based AI experiences to one of its largest user bases. The rollout also includes availability in New Zealand and Canada, but the move highlights India as a key market for Google’s AI-driven browser strategy.

The update introduces Gemini directly inside Chrome, allowing users to interact with an AI assistant without leaving their current tab. Google says the goal is to make browsing more productive by helping users summarize content, answer questions, and perform tasks while navigating the web.

Gemini in Chrome Arrives for Indian Users

With the update, Chrome users in India can access a built-in AI browsing assistant powered by Gemini. Instead of switching between websites or apps, users can click the Gemini icon in the browser and ask questions directly from the page they are viewing.

The AI assistant can help with tasks such as:

  • Summarizing long web articles

  • Answering questions about content on a page

  • Creating quizzes or study material

  • Suggesting modifications to recipes or instructions

Google says the assistant works alongside normal browsing activity so users can get help without switching tabs or interrupting their workflow

AI That Works Across Multiple Browser Tabs

One of the most notable capabilities is Gemini’s ability to analyze information across multiple open tabs.

For example, users researching a product can ask Gemini to compare options from different websites and create a comparison table. Similarly, people planning travel or events can ask the assistant to combine information from several pages into a single overview.

This feature turns Chrome into a context-aware AI research assistant, capable of synthesizing information from several sources at once.

Built-in Integration With Google Apps

Gemini in Chrome also integrates with popular Google services, allowing users to perform actions without leaving the browser.

The AI assistant can interact with apps such as:

  • Gmail

  • Google Maps

  • Google Calendar

  • YouTube

For example, users can draft and send an email directly from the Chrome side panel or extract key insights from a YouTube video.

Image Editing With Nano Banana 2

Google is also bringing Nano Banana 2 image editing capabilities directly into Chrome. Users can modify images on a webpage simply by describing what they want to change.

Instead of downloading or uploading images to editing software, Chrome can transform visuals instantly using AI prompts.

Support for More Languages, Including Hindi

As part of the expansion, Google is adding support for more than 50 additional languages, including Hindi, helping the new features reach a wider audience in India and other multilingual regions.

The rollout will initially be available on desktop and iOS, while Android users can activate Gemini while using Chrome and other apps by pressing and holding the device’s power button.
