Google has expanded its Gemini 3 family with the launch of Gemini 3 Flash, a new AI model designed to deliver frontier-level intelligence with significantly faster performance and lower cost. Announced on December 17, 2025, Gemini 3 Flash combines the advanced reasoning capabilities of Gemini 3 Pro with the low-latency efficiency of Google’s Flash models, making next-generation AI more accessible across Google products, developer tools, and enterprise platforms.

Gemini 3 Flash demonstrates strong performance on advanced benchmarks, including 90.4% on GPQA Diamond and 81.2% on MMMU Pro, rivaling larger frontier models while using fewer tokens and running up to 3× faster than previous generations. Priced at $0.50 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens, it is optimized for high-frequency, agentic workflows such as coding agents, multimodal analysis, and real-time interactive applications. The model achieves a 78% score on SWE-bench Verified, outperforming even Gemini 3 Pro for coding agent tasks.

The model is rolling out globally across the Gemini app, AI Mode in Google Search, Google AI Studio, Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Gemini Enterprise, where it becomes the new default model for many users at no additional cost. Enterprises and developers can use Gemini 3 Flash to build faster, more responsive AI systems, while everyday users benefit from improved multimodal understanding of text, images, audio, and video. With this release, Google positions Gemini 3 Flash as a key step toward scalable, affordable frontier intelligence for both production workloads and everyday use.

In the Gemini app, Gemini 3 Flash is now the default model globally, replacing Gemini 2.5 Flash. Users can experience faster, more responsive AI assistance across tasks such as understanding images and videos, analyzing audio recordings, generating quizzes, planning projects, and even building simple apps using voice prompts. Thanks to its multimodal reasoning abilities, Gemini 3 Flash can interpret text, visuals, and audio together—allowing users to, for example, upload a short video and receive an actionable improvement plan in seconds or get real-time feedback while sketching ideas on screen.

Google is also rolling out Gemini 3 Flash as the default model for AI Mode in Search, significantly upgrading how complex queries are handled. AI Mode now uses Gemini 3 Flash’s enhanced reasoning to break down nuanced, multi-step questions—such as planning trips, comparing products, or learning advanced topics—into structured, easy-to-understand responses. The model pulls in real-time web information, local results, and relevant links, blending traditional search results with conversational AI to help users move from research to action more efficiently.
