Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Simplify in the Google app for iOS. It’s designed to help users easily understand complex or technical text they come across while browsing the web.
Why It’s Helpful?
When you're researching or learning something new online, it’s common to run into text that’s full of technical words or industry jargon. Whether it’s about health, law, science, or finance, it can be hard to keep up. The Simplify feature is designed to fix that.
How Does It Work?
Just highlight the confusing part of the text while browsing in the Google app on your iPhone. A “Simplify” button will appear. Tap it, and the AI will instantly rewrite the text in simpler, clearer language—right on the same page. It helps you quickly grasp new ideas and continue reading without getting stuck.
Built by Google Research
Simplify is powered by a unique method called prompt refinement, which was created by Google Research and uses Gemini, Google’s advanced AI model. It simplifies the text without removing the important details or changing the meaning.
Proven Effective
According to Google’s internal research, people found simplified versions of the text not only easier to read but also more helpful. They were able to better understand and remember the information compared to the original version.
Available Now
Simplify is now available in the Google app on iOS devices. Google hasn’t announced if or when it will come to Android or desktop yet.
