LeadTools v20 Released

As the .NET technology is growing rapidly with other Microsoft offerings, such as Azure Services and Visual Studio Tools, the third-party libraries and tools are also making their way towards getting new extensions to support the fast-moving development market. One such incident is seen recently with the release of LEADTOOLS Version 20.

LEAD Technologies, a provider of the comprehensive collection of imaging development technology and SDKs in the market, has released this major version with new libraries for targeting .NET Framework, .NET Core and Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin app models, as well as Microsoft Azure services. The company has made significant improvements and updates also to LEAD’s document, medical and product lines.

The Chairman and CEO of LEAD Technologies, Moe Daher, stated in a Press Release,

"One of our biggest goals for LEADTOOLS Version 20 was to make LEADTOOLS available on every major platform. With libraries for .NET Standard, we have added incredible value for developers wishing to leverage our extensive imaging technology on a variety of platforms and app models including .NET Framework, .NET Core, and Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin."

Here are the major improvements that the new version, i.e., LEADTOOLS v20 incorporates –

  • Developers can now write a unified code base and simultaneously target even more platforms and devices - .NET Framework for Windows; .NET Standard; .NET Core for Windows, Linux, and macOS; Xamarin - iOS, Android, and UWP.
  • Ability to integrate advanced document and medical functionality such as OCR, Barcode, Forms Recognition, PDF, Document Conversion, DICOM DataSet, and DICOM Communication.
  • With the new Azure Services libraries, developers can create imaging and recognition cloud services for their apps as well as add OCR, Barcode, Passport, Driver’s License and Check recognition to their solutions.
  • The Document Imaging products are also updated with CMC-7 MICR font, three.js file format, STL file format. Also, some new high-level functions are introduced in v20 for reading the barcodes on state-issued ID cards.
  • Other than these features, the company has made improvements in speed and memory consumption, improved accuracy, and output file formatting, and support for the DICOM Hanging Protocol specifications.
