Symantec Brings New Technology To Fight Cyber Attacks

Recently, Symantec Corp SYMC has introduced its new technology called 'Email Threat Isolation' in an effort to counter advanced cyber-attacks in a more innovative and effective way. According to the report, the technology will protect devices against credential theft, spear phishing, account takeover and ransomware attacks.
Further, the Email Threat Isolation technology instantly detects malicious content as well as links from emails and quarantines them, essentially reducing the immediate risks of messaging applications.
As there is the increase in malware attacks by 36% in the past year with a 55% increase in spear phishing. It is said that one in every six spam emails they contain malicious links and also, on an average 40% of U.S. citizens were affected by cyber security issue last year.
Moreover, it is said that the growing sophistication of phishing activities is making it difficult to trace fingerprints of the attackers. It is to address this issue that Symantec dedicatedly worked on and came up with the integrated Email Threat Isolation solution.
Greg Clark, CEO of Symantec states -
“Despite significant efforts by our industry to detect and block email-borne threats, messaging remains the primary vector for malware and scams within the enterprise. The industry requires a paradigm shift to properly secure messaging, and we are excited to be bringing the innovation of integrated isolation technology to email. This revolutionary technology helps enterprises to quickly and easily isolate all malicious email content – both internal and external – to substantially reduce inherent risks within messaging applications. Further, because the technology is cloud-based, organizations can be up and be running quickly and easily, reducing stress on already taxed IT teams.”
Rob Ayoub, Program Director of Security Products, IDC also shared his views stating -
“Phishing and ransomware attacks are constantly evolving and are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Isolation represents a new approach to defending against these insidious threats and is particularly useful to defend high-value targets. Symantec is the first to integrate threat isolation into its email security solution.”
