Visual Studio Code 1.53 Released

Version 1.53 brings a number of useful updates such as Wrap tabs, Configure tab decorations , Customize search mode , and Notebook UX updates.

The January 2021 release of Visual Studio Code, version 1.53 brings a number of useful updates such as Wrap tabs, Configure tab decorations , Customize search mode , and Notebook UX updates.

In the latest release, a new setting workbench.editor.wrapTabs lets editor tabs wrap instead of showing a scrollbar. Two new settings enables users to configure whether editor tabs show decorations, such as git status or diagnostics. You can use workbench.editor.decorations.colors to decorate tabs with colors, like red/green for files with errors and warnings. Workbench.editor.decorations.badges enalbes you to to decorate tabs with badges, like M for git modified.

The Open Editors view is now hidden by default. You can control open editors view by the context menu in the Explorer view title area. Starting with this release, if you try to quit VS Code while there is a file operation in progress, you will get a confirmation dialog. You will also see a confirmation dialog for destructive undo operations from the Explorer.

A new setting workbench.editor.enablePreviewFromCodeNavigation enables users to explicitly enable preview editors from code navigations.

Other highlight of the release include: Markdown preview image auto update, Emmet improvements, and JavaScript debugging.
