In this article we will be seeing how to delete a hold in SharePoint 2010.

I have created a hold and when I was trying to delete the hold I was facing some issues.

When I was tying to delete the hold I was getting the following error.

The error clearly explains that the hold must be released, so I released the hold by doing the following

Click on "Release Hold".

I have released the hold, but I could see the item with hold status in "Pending Release".

This is because the timer job "Hold Processing and Reporting" is scheduled for "Daily".

I went to the central administration and ran the timer job. The hold was successfully deleted.
