A day in the life of a programmer??

Question

Hi,
I was wondering what the average day consists of for you guys who work as programmers?  I mean, when you arrive at work what kind of tasks, programming jobs etc are you given.  For example do you work on projects for months at a time, or smaller tasks daily?  If so what kind of programs etc do you write?
I realise it's different for everyone, but since one day I want a programming job I am really interested in what I need to expect.
