Here are today’s biggest developments in artificial intelligence, big tech strategy, and the future of digital platforms.
Amazon has introduced new personality styles for Alexa+, allowing users to choose how the voice assistant responds. The four styles are Brief, Chill, Sweet, and Sassy, with Sassy offering witty, sarcastic replies. However, Amazon clarified that, unlike Elon Musk’s Grok, Alexa’s humor remains within strict safety limits and avoids offensive or harmful content.
Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 1, marking five decades since Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded the company in 1976. CEO Tim Cook shared a heartfelt message thanking employees, developers, and customers for transforming a garage startup into one of the world’s most influential technology companies.
In the AI race, Meta has delayed the launch of its upcoming AI model “Avocado” after internal tests showed it failed to outperform competitors like Google’s Gemini 3 and other leading LLMs. Reports suggest Meta may temporarily license Google’s Gemini models while continuing development of its own systems.
Privacy on social platforms is also changing. Instagram will remove its end-to-end encrypted messaging feature starting May 8, 2026, meaning messages will no longer be fully private. The company says the change will help detect harmful content such as child exploitation and harassment.
At the infrastructure level, Meta is building its own AI chips through its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) program. The company plans to release new versions every six months to reduce reliance on Nvidia and AMD while improving performance and lowering costs for generative AI workloads.
From AI assistants and privacy debates to custom chip development, these developments show how rapidly the technology landscape continues to evolve.
