How To Document Tasks With Notes And Hyperlinks In Microsoft Project 2013

In this article, we shall discuss how to document the task with notes and hyperlinks in Microsoft Project 2013.

Before discussing this topic, I strongly recommend you read my previous articles on Microsoft Project in 2013, which are given below.

Ok, now it’s time to start.

We can record additional information about a task in note. For example, we might have some description of a task but want to keep the task name brief but we can also add such descriptions to a task rather than to task’s name.

There are three types of notes, which are given below.

  • Task notes
  • Resource notes
  • Assignment notes

We can enter and review the task notes on the notes tab in task information ribbon menu.

Now, let’s have a look at our project plan.

Now, we want to capture some description for one of the task shown above.

To do so, follow the steps given below.

  • Double click on task name.
  • Now, a popup Window will appear, as shown below.

Click on the notes and put some description in the text area shown below.

Now, click on it and automatically a Notepad icon is created besides the task in the plan, as shown below.

When you mouse hover on the notes icon, we can see the description, as shown below.

Now, let’s see how to add the hyperlinks to a task and to do so, proceed, as shown below.

Right click on the task and select hyperlink, as shown below.

Select Hyperlink, click and give the link, which we wanted to give, as shown below.

Now, click OK to view the link in the plan, as shown below.
