Are the Google Days Over?

Bing is Getting Better. Google is Getting Complicated.

The reason Google became #1 search engine and have retain its status over years due to simplicity and relevance. But in recent couple of years, it seems like Google is try to do much. It actually makes sense based on the demand and alternatives. SEO guys have flooded websites all over the Web and were taking unfair advantage of Google's SEO algorithms. Well, they still are.

In a recent move, Google has focused more on contents. That actually makes sense but it is still confused with some search results. It is totally confused on geo location relevance. If I am searching for a programming code or tutorial, it does not matter what country I am from and what country a website is hosted in.

So all in all, there is lot of changes going on behind the scene at Google. But Google has not changed its user experience. User experience is still same at Google accept some filters and relevancy and of course the famous Google+. I understand Google guys are technical guys but common. It's 2012 and pretty is new Web. Building beautiful websites is new Web.

On the other hand, Microsoft and Bing team is focusing on delivery and user experience. Bing has changed a lot and keeps getting better and better over time.

In a report published on Experian shows that Google has lost 5% of searches in last 1 year while Bing has gained search shares by 7%.

Does that means Google is losing its ground? Not necessarily but recently, I have personally started favoring Bing for my searches over Google. Keep in mind, I am a tech guy and tech guys are the one of the reason Google succeeded overnight.

Now Windows 8 is getting released sometime this year and Bing becomes good or almost good as Google, there is no reason for me to go to Google. Same Bing results I can experience on my Tablet, smart phone, TV and Xbox, that's even better. Who needs Google then?

Is the Google era has started declining? These next 2 years will be very important for both, Google and Microsoft. If Microsoft rides on Windows 8 success, we may start seeing a downfall of Google. Also, this and next years are very important for Facebook, Apple, and Twitter.

Time will tell! But oh boy, it's getting hot hear on east coast.
