How to access a sql server on remote machine from local?

Connection string is all you need. 99.99% of time SQL Server is always running on remote machine. So situation you are having is normal, daily, usual. Nothing unusual.

Hi,

1.Get SQL Server Management Studio installed.

2. Use SA login to connect to the server and database.

You can also use windows log in if you have it.

You have to check whetehr you have access to remote server from you computer.

In cmd prompt ,

ping server name or ip address and see if you are recining reply.

You can only connect to the database either it was on Intranet/Internet, just you need to use that machine IP into servername alongwith userid/pwd/db name.

For that You need to connect that machine SQL Server instance from Code and then update that field using Store Procedure or any other way which you want.
