  Visual Studio is the IDE used for .NET framework. There is a difference between both of them, Visual Studio and .NET! You need to understand the different first. 

   

  They are all released as stable versions of the product. Visual Studio 2015 was recently released as a stable and public product. At the moment they all stand stable! But it depends on your needs. You can see what frameworks, features of services each one of them supports. Then download either one of them.

   

  To get a free edition, search for an Express of a Community edition. :-)
