What is the future of ASP.NET

I am writing an article on the future of ASP.NET. I wanted to check to see what you guys think. It will be interesting to see guys here are thinking about ASP.NET.

I also think, MVC/Web APIs/HTML5 will lead the entire web world soon.

Good point and post Vulpes. I do have to agree that Web API has a future. We just developed a Web API Service for C# Corner iPhone and Android apps and it makes sense. It gives flexibility to developers to expose data in any standard format.

It looked to me like MVC was going to emerge as the dominant framework for ASP.NET until I read this a while back:

I think there will be 2 things
1. Build asp.net using HTML5 and js
2.ASp.net MVC

Sukesh, I think you got it right. Microsoft has shutdown Silverlight work and Silverlight 5 will be the last version to be release since it was already in Production. I have a feeling that ASP.NET will not survive longer if HTML 5 keeps improving. If you look at Visual Studio 2012, more focus is on HTML 5, XAML, and Windows Store apps. If I am using HTML 5 and JavaScript to build Websites and XAML to build Windows Store apps and WPF to build Windows clients applications, there is no reason for me to use ASP.NET.

intially we had control like Datagrid then comes gridview and then listview...
With Each enhancement flexibility increased as the we get more control on HTML part.

My assumption is Microsoft is more concentrating towards performance more and might be asp.net will be compltly considered deprecated and asp.net MVC will emerge everywhere,

Some times i felt, They may also come up with Asp.net MVP framework in future.

Its just my thinking.
