They're both very powerful platforms for application programming. If their extensive standard libraries don't address a particular area, then 3rd party solutions will usually exist to plug the gap. Arguably, the commoner .NET languages (C#, VB, C++/CLI) contain more modern features than the Java language though Oracle is working hard to address this. Until now Java has been more portable than .NET with implementations of the runtime for every major platform. In contrast, .NET has had to rely on Mono for non-Windows implementations. However, Microsoft has recently open sourced the core of .NET and is working on implementations for both Linux and MacOS whilst its partner, Xamarin, already has implementations for Android and iOS. So, in the years to come, given a free choice, it may just be a matter of taste which you prefer.

This is my personal Opinion what i learn from my past Exp.:- Every technology is powerful in their respective area. So we never comapre between two technology. Both this technology has great scope in the current era as well as in future ,so it's depend on us which technolgy we like much , as your decission start learning that technology deeply i be sure tat you can hv a great future . Lastly one thing always remember that comming of new technology never ends ,so we only required to be a quick learner to grab that particular technology quickly. Apart from that if you search this same thing in GOOGLE you get lots of different views ,so don't be confuse to take the decision because both the technology having great scope in future,so by your interest about that particular subject take decision.
