As a Data Engineer at Google Cloud, you will play a critical role in helping customers ingest, store, process, analyze, and visualize data on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will act as a trusted technical advisor, guiding businesses through their cloud transformation journeys, ensuring optimal performance, and implementing best practices for scalable and efficient data processing.
In this role, you will lead data migrations and transformations, design scalable architectures, and work closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex business challenges. This position requires a strong technical background, problem-solving mindset, and a passion for working with cutting-edge cloud technologies.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a Technical Advisor. Collaborate with customers to understand their business needs and develop tailored cloud solutions that optimize performance, security, and scalability.
- Lead Data Migrations & Transformations. Assist customers in migrating on-premises data systems to Google Cloud, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.
- Architect & Optimize Data Solutions. Design, build, and implement scalable data processing systems using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, and MapReduce.
- Build & Enhance Data Pipelines. Work with ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehouse architectures to support large-scale analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate Across Teams. Partner with Engineering, Sales Services, and Business Teams to align technical solutions with strategic objectives.
- Provide Training & Best Practices. Develop and deliver technical documentation, tutorials, sample code, and best practice recommendations to customers and internal teams.
- Analyze Data & Deliver Insights. Collect, cleanse, and analyze large datasets to provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Stay Ahead of Emerging Technologies. Continuously evaluate and adopt new Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI technologies to enhance cloud capabilities.
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum Qualifications
- Education. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience. 5+ years of hands-on experience with Big Data processing technologies, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, MapReduce, Flume
- Programming Skills. Proficiency in Java, C++, Python, Go, or JavaScript for software development.
- Client-Facing Experience. Proven ability to manage projects, troubleshoot technical issues, and work closely with Engineering and Sales Services teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Consulting Experience. Strong background in consulting, advising, or implementing cloud-based solutions.
- Data Warehouse Expertise. Experience designing data warehouse architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, and reporting environments.
- Big Data & Machine Learning Knowledge. Exposure to information retrieval, data mining, and AI-driven analytics.
- Scalable Application Development. Experience building multi-tier high availability applications using technologies like NoSQL, MongoDB, SparkML, and TensorFlow.
- Cloud & Virtualization Expertise. Hands-on experience architecting and developing production-grade Big Data solutions in cloud or virtualized environments.
