Are you a passionate Firmware Developer looking to take the next step in your career? Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based at our Emerson Innovation Centre, Pune (EICP), this role involves full firmware and application development for real-time products such as Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Flow Computers. You will play a key role in the entire software development lifecycle—from analyzing requirements to coding, testing, and deployment—as an integral part of a Scrum team.

We seek a proactive and ownership-driven professional who can transform one-line requirements into effective solutions. Additionally, you may be required to take ownership of existing products as needed, ensuring their smooth operation and ongoing improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Firmware Development. Design, implement, and maintain secure firmware as part of a Scrum team.
  2. Agile Methodology. Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives).
  3. End-to-End Development. Engage in all development activities, including requirement analysis, system design, code implementation, testing, and documentation.
  4. Collaboration. Coordinate with global teams to represent the development team in discussions and meetings.
  5. Legacy Product Support. Provide maintenance and updates for existing firmware and software solutions as needed.
  6. Compliance & Standards. Ensure all deliverables comply with Emerson’s global development principles, practices, and security standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  1. Educational Background. Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from a reputed institution with a strong academic record.
  2. Experience. Minimum 2 years in embedded systems development, including bare-metal programming and RTOS-based systems.
  3. Programming Skills. At least 1 year of hands-on experience with C++.
  4. Software Development. Strong expertise in object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), real-time concepts, and data structures.
  5. Debugging & Testing. Proficiency in using debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers to troubleshoot embedded systems.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  1. Industrial Communication Protocols. Familiarity with PLC, RTU, transmitters, and sensors is an added advantage.
  2. Secure Development. Experience with secure firmware development practices.
  3. Problem-Solving Mindset. Ability to deep dive into issues, think from a customer perspective, and propose innovative solutions.
  4. Independent Ownership. Comfortable working with minimal supervision, taking a single-line requirement and converting it into a working solution.
  5. Action-Oriented & Analytical Thinking. Quick decision-making abilities with a logical approach to problem-solving.
  6. Commitment to Quality. Strong focus on delivering high-quality firmware without compromising deadlines.
