Job Description

As a Front-End Engineering Officer and Costing Specialist at Emerson, you will play a crucial role in supporting our valves quotation process. Your responsibilities will include providing accurate and timely quotations to customers and distributors, ensuring adherence to pricing and lead time guidelines, and maintaining a comprehensive costing database. You will work closely with various stakeholders to analyze customer specifications, propose technical solutions, and ensure competitive pricing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Quotation Review and Proposal. Analyze customer requests for quotations, assess specifications, and propose appropriate product designs and solutions to meet application requirements.
  2. Cost Analysis and Pricing. Evaluate costing and develop pricing strategies in line with business objectives and manufacturing guidelines.
  3. Technical Clarifications. Participate in pre-bid and technical clarification meetings with customers to ensure alignment with technical specifications.
  4. Bid Preparation. Prepare technical bids, including clarifications and deviations, in coordination with other functions.
  5. RFQ Management. Manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for actuator manufacturers and missing costing to ensure competitive assessments.
  6. Database Management. Maintain and update the valves costing database in collaboration with supply chain and operations. Extend the database by creating new price lists.
  7. Order Management. Oversee the receipt and release of orders to manufacturing, including the creation of inspection and test plans, and participate in post-order technical meetings.
  8. Support. Provide technical support and clarification to the local sales office, manage intercompany product quotations, and support internal project management with change orders.

Qualifications

  1. Education. Bachelor's degree in a technical area, preferably mechanical engineering.
  2. Experience. Previous experience in the flow control industry with a good understanding of valve and actuation applications is preferred.

Skills

  • Fluent in English, proficiency in another language is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, electro-mechanical equipment, and material properties.
  • Familiarity with Pressure Equipment Directive (ASME, ANSI, API) standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
