As a GCP Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and applications. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Implement. Create scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
- Automation. Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, along with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab), to automate cloud operations and streamline deployment processes.
- Performance Monitoring. Continuously monitor and optimize cloud performance, cost, and security to maximize efficiency and reliability.
- Collaboration. Work closely with development teams and cross-functional partners (CloudOps, InfoSec, APIGEE) to integrate applications seamlessly with cloud services.
- Compliance. Align with DevOps practices to maintain compliance with industry standards and best practices for cloud security and governance.
- Troubleshooting. Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Technical Guidance. Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Continuous Learning. Stay updated on the latest developments in cloud technology and best practices to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
- On-Call Support. Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical cloud infrastructure, ensuring quick resolution of incidents.
- Testing. Ensure all new systems and changes are properly tested before deployment, minimizing risks and ensuring stability.
Qualifications
- Education. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience. 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Technical Skills
- Proficient in GCP services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Spanner, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Serverless Dataproc, and Serverless Dataflow.
- Strong understanding of GCP networking concepts, such as Internal Load Balancing (ILB), Istio, and Anthos.
- Knowledge of Java for troubleshooting and fixing deployment-related errors.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and tools (IAM, Cloud Security Command Center, Cloud Armor).
