We are looking for a seasoned Linux Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in managing and enhancing our Linux-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess substantial hands-on experience with Linux OS patching, SSL, DNS, and SMTP. This role involves working during the night shift to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Monitoring & Maintenance. Oversee and maintain Linux-based servers to ensure optimal performance, security, and uptime.
- Patching & Updates. Perform regular updates and patching of Linux operating systems, including kernel and security patches, as well as software updates.
- SSL Certificate Management. Configure and manage SSL certificates to ensure secure communication and encryption.
- DNS Infrastructure. Design, implement, and maintain DNS infrastructure, including managing zone files, DNS servers, and DNSSEC.
- SMTP Configuration. Configure and troubleshoot SMTP servers to ensure reliable email communication and adherence to security standards.
- Technical Troubleshooting. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Linux systems, applications, and services.
- Collaboration. Work closely with the development team to facilitate smooth integration of new applications and services with existing systems.
- Documentation. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including installation guides and troubleshooting procedures.
- On-Call Support. Participate in the on-call rotation, providing timely resolution for critical issues outside of regular hours.
- Continuous Improvement. Stay updated with the latest Linux distributions, security patches, and best practices, and propose improvements to the infrastructure.
- Guidance & Support. Offer technical support and guidance to junior team members and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Educational Background. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience. Minimum of 5 years in Linux system administration with hands-on experience in patching, SSL, DNS, and SMTP.
- Technical Skills. Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, kernel configuration, file systems, and networking. Experience with SSL/TLS certificate management and DNS protocols (e.g., BIND, PowerDNS). Familiarity with SMTP protocols and email server software (e.g., Postfix, Sendmail).
- Problem-Solving. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Communication. Strong documentation and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Scripting & Automation. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) is advantageous.
- Shift & Availability. Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 environment, including night shifts, and participate in on-call duties.
- Attention to Detail. Strong focus on security, reliability, and performance.
