Job Description

As a Senior Consultant in the MS SQL DBA role, you'll be a key player in the consulting lifecycle, involved in defining problems, proposing solutions, and guiding the overall development and deployment of SQL Server solutions. Your role will also include contributing to project processes, deliverables, and internal capability-building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, build, and configure RDBMS software.
  • Apply patches, upgrade, and troubleshoot SQL Server versions 2008R2/2012/2014/2016.
  • Implement Disaster Recovery plans using Always ON, Clustering, Log-shipping, Mirroring, and Replication.
  • Configure High Availability using Always ON Availability Groups.
  • Perform database encryption and manage backup, restore, recovery, statistics updates, index maintenance, and defragmentation.

Performance and Monitoring

  • Optimize queries and tune performance using SQL Profiler, Execution Plan, Performance Monitor, and DBCC Commands.
  • Monitor instances and configure alerts with tools like Quest Foglight/AppDynamics.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or SSIS.

Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide 24X7 support for OLTP/OLAP database instances.
  • Troubleshoot database-related problems reported by customers.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot log shipping, DB replication, and Always ON.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Prepare and share knowledge articles on day-to-day activities with the team.
  • Expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and database encryption.
  • Proficiency in database backup, maintenance, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and automation using PowerShell or SSIS.
  • Experience providing 24X7 support and maintenance.
