Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and management of large-scale PostgreSQL databases and Data Warehouse systems.
  • Install and configure PostgreSQL on Linux environments with a deep understanding of best practices for secure and optimized deployments.
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot database performance issues using tools and logs to ensure optimal uptime and query responsiveness.

  • Perform schema design, database tuning, and implement effective indexing strategies to support high-performance analytics.
  • Handle routine database administration, including resource allocation, user/role permissions, and SQL tuning.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, providing prompt production support and issue resolution.
  • Create and maintain operational documentation, standards, and best practices in collaboration with other DBAs and engineering teams.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging database technologies to enhance platform scalability and robustness.

  • Support database version upgrades, data migration, and high-availability configurations including replication and clustering.
  • Troubleshoot application-database connectivity, slow-running queries, and data loading pipelines.
  • Contribute to automation through scripting in Shell, Perl, or Python to streamline database management and maintenance tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of overall database administration experience with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database management in production environments.
  • Expert-level skills in PostgreSQL installation, configuration, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in Linux environments and scripting with Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internal processes, and high-availability solutions (e.g., replication, streaming replication, active-passive cluster setup).
  • Strong experience with backup and recovery processes, version upgrades, and migration planning.
  • Excellent SQL skills, with the ability to analyze and optimize complex queries.
  • Exposure to MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) database architecture and familiarity with data warehousing principles.
  • Working knowledge of Greenplum or other analytical database systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop, Big Data tools, or cloud-based data ecosystems (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in production support, troubleshooting, and performance benchmarking.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and database deployment pipelines is a bonus.
  • Certifications in PostgreSQL or cloud database services (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL) are advantageous.
  • Previous experience working in digital marketing, ad-tech, or data-driven industries is a plus.
