Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist at LinkedIn, you will work with a team of high-performing data science professionals, product managers, engineers, and designers to drive LinkedIn membership growth and engagement. You will leverage LinkedIn's rich data to develop insights, optimize member experiences, and influence product strategies. Responsibilities

  1. Collaborative Data Analysis. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and enhance member experiences. Utilize your expertise to inform product development and strategy.

  2. Reporting and Monitoring. Design, create, and automate reports and dashboards to track key business metrics. Manage ETL processes, clean and validate data, and integrate new metrics into our data systems.

  3. Product Analytics. Design and analyze experiments to evaluate new product or feature ideas. Formulate success metrics, monitor their performance, and provide actionable recommendations based on data insights.

  4. Influencing Strategy. Conduct in-depth analyses to uncover insights and understand trends. Translate findings into actionable recommendations that influence product roadmaps and drive impactful changes.

  5. Predictive Modeling. Develop and refine predictive models to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

  6. Storytelling and Communication. Craft compelling narratives from data, make logical recommendations, and drive informed actions. Explain complex problems clearly to various audiences and lead discussions effectively.

  7. Ad-Hoc Analysis. Perform timely ad-hoc analyses to address emerging business needs and provide data-driven solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience. 5+ years of experience in Analytics/Data Science with a strong background in handling large datasets.
  • Technical Skills. Proficiency in SQL and relational databases. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, BI dashboarding, R visualization packages).
  • Data Analysis. Experience with Spark/HDFS and Scala/Hive. Familiarity with platform experiments and A/B testing methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Consumer Internet Products. Experience working with consumer internet products.
  2. Statistical Modeling. Experience in applied statistics and statistical modeling using at least one statistical software package (e.g., R, SPSS).
  3. Education. Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Operational Research, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics.
  4. Skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues to diverse audiences.
