As a Senior Design Manager in the Enterprise Design & Research team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience for American Express's largest servicing channels. This role requires leading complex and high-profile design programs, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and driving strategic initiatives that elevate our design practices and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Management. Lead the management of complex, high-profile design programs with diverse stakeholders and third parties. Track key deliverables, ensuring that products and design roadmaps are delivered on time.
- Strategic Advising. Provide expert advice to leaders and peers to facilitate informed decision-making and prioritization. Make recommendations to shape organizational strategy, measurement, and ways of working.
- Process Improvement. Define and implement scalable frameworks and metrics to support design goals. Evolve tools and training methods to ensure adoption of best practices and adherence to processes.
- Partnership Development. Build and nurture strategic partnerships with stakeholders and third parties. Establish and maintain collaborative cross-functional relationships to align on business needs and deliver value.
- Team Leadership. Mentor and coach junior members of the Design/Research operations team. Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, promoting operational efficiencies and strategic partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience. At least 5 years of experience in managing teams and scaling cross-discipline workflows. Proven track record in defining and scaling processes with measurable impact.
- Skills. Expertise in fostering collaboration, managing multiple projects, and leading complex initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and share processes in an engaging manner.
- Tools. Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, Mural, and Airtable.
