Position Overview. Software Engineer III

Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Digital Platforms team in Commercial Bank Technology, you will serve as a seasoned member of an agile feature team. Your focus will be on building core micro service frameworks and foundational components for application development teams. You will own and drive the creation of platform-level backend capabilities to facilitate faster and scalable product and solution delivery for Commercial Bank.

Job Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant, reusable, and secure code following industry best practices.
• Participate in architecture, design, development, and quality release using Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
• Implement high-quality code and provide valuable feedback and code reviews to others.
• Collaborate effectively with the product team and other technology teams to solve complex problems.
• Refine, estimate, and decompose user stories into technical implementation tasks in close collaboration with individual contributors.
• Identify complex situations that may need dedicated discussion and follow through with concrete meeting artifacts representing discoveries and decisions.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
• Expert-level Java, spring boot knowledge with demonstrated complex implementations.
• Good knowledge of Unit/integration/e2e testing with continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Experience in containerization, docker, Kubernetes, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative and efficient technical solutions.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills with clear communication and documentation capabilities.
• Experience working with AWS services, especially deploying applications to AWS.
• Working experience with OAuth or ForgeRock is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of messaging systems like Kafka.
