As a Software Engineer III on the YouTube mobile team, you will design, develop, and enhance mobile applications that are integral to the YouTube experience. You will work on projects that impact a global audience and push the boundaries of mobile technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Code Development. Write efficient, maintainable code for Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Code Review. Participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices in coding standards, testability, and performance.
- Documentation. Create and maintain technical documentation, adapting content based on product updates and user feedback.
- Issue Resolution. Analyze, debug, and resolve product or system issues, assessing their impact on overall service quality.
- Design Reviews. Engage in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to evaluate and select appropriate technologies for new features.
- Performance Optimization. Monitor application performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Collaboration. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree in a relevant field.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in an academic or industry setting.
- 2 years of experience in Android application development.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Java or Kotlin.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with performance analysis, large-scale systems, data visualization tools, or debugging.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

Compensation and Benefits. The base salary range for this role is $136,000 - $200,000, plus additional bonuses, equity, and benefits. Compensation is based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
