![iPhone Air]()
Cupertino, California — September 9, 2025 — Apple today announced the iPhone Air, a new addition to the iPhone family. At just 5.6mm thin, iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever made, delivering pro-level performance, breakthrough durability, and all-day battery life in a lightweight titanium design.
Breakthrough Design with Titanium and Ceramic Shield
The iPhone Air debuts a Grade 5 titanium frame with a high-gloss mirror finish, paired with a new plateau design that maximizes internal space for a larger battery. For the first time, Ceramic Shield now protects both the front and back of the device:
Ceramic Shield 2 (front cover): 3x better scratch resistance, reduced glare.
Ceramic Shield (back cover): 4x better crack resistance than previous iPhones.
The 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display supports ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On, and 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness — the highest ever on iPhone.
Powered by Apple Silicon: A19 Pro, N1, and C1X
The iPhone Air features the A19 Pro chip, alongside Apple’s N1 wireless chip and new C1X modem, making it the most power-efficient iPhone yet.
A19 Pro: 6-core CPU (fastest in any smartphone), 5-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, optimized for AAA gaming and on-device AI models.
N1 chip: Supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, with better AirDrop and Hotspot reliability.
C1X modem: 2x faster than the previous C1, 30% more power-efficient, optimized for 5G.
Together, these chips allow iPhone Air to deliver fantastic all-day battery life, further enhanced by Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26, which intelligently manages power based on user habits.
Camera Systems: 48MP Fusion + Center Stage Front Camera
The 48MP Fusion Main camera provides the equivalent of four focal lengths, including 28mm and 35mm, and excels in low light with its large quad-pixel sensor. A new 2x Telephoto offers optical-quality zoom, powered by Apple’s updated Photonic Engine for lifelike details and colors.
The all-new 18MP Center Stage front camera introduces a square sensor with a wider field of view. Features include:
Portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the device.
AI-powered auto-framing for group shots.
Dual Capture: Simultaneous front and rear camera recording.
Ultra-stabilized 4K HDR video.
Video recording supports Dolby Vision at 4K60 fps, Action mode, Spatial Audio capture, and new Audio Mix tools for editing sound after capture.
iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
Running on iOS 26, iPhone Air supports Apple’s latest Apple Intelligence features, including:
Live Translation for real-time communication across languages.
Visual intelligence tools for screenshots and in-app actions.
Liquid Glass UI with expressive, modern visuals.
A new Apple Games app to unify iOS gaming.
eSIM-Only for a Thinner Profile
The iPhone Air adopts an eSIM-only design, saving internal space and improving security. Over 500 carriers worldwide support eSIM, making international travel more seamless.
