![Claude Platform on AWS]()
Anthropic announced the general availability of Claude Platform on AWS. This service provides AWS customers with direct access to Anthropic's native platform experience—including first-party APIs and features—all unified within their existing AWS infrastructure.
Key Features and Benefits
Claude Platform on AWS is designed to combine Anthropic’s latest developer tools with AWS’s enterprise-grade security and management:
Unified Authentication: Access the platform using existing AWS IAM credentials and Signature Version 4 (SigV4) authentication, eliminating the need for separate Anthropic accounts or API keys.
Consolidated Billing: Usage is billed through AWS Marketplace on a consumption basis, allowing teams to track AI spending alongside other AWS services on a single invoice.
Integrated Auditing: All platform activity is captured in AWS CloudTrail, providing security teams with full visibility and monitoring capabilities.
Day-One Feature Parity: The platform includes access to Anthropic's native Messages API, Claude Managed Agents, prompt caching, code execution, and beta features the same day they launch on the standalone Claude API.
Platform vs. Amazon Bedrock
While both services offer Claude models, they serve different operational needs:
| Feature | Claude Platform on AWS | Claude on Amazon Bedrock |
| Operator | Operated by Anthropic | Operated by AWS |
| Data Boundary | Processed by Anthropic outside the AWS boundary | Stays entirely within AWS infrastructure |
| Developer Tools | Access to native beta features, Claude Code, and Cowork | Includes AWS-managed features like Guardrails and Knowledge Bases |
| Residency | Flexible data residency; may route to primary cloud | Guaranteed regional data residency options |
Global Availability
At launch, the service is available across a wide range of AWS regions, including:
North America: US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon), and Canada (Central).
Europe & Middle East: Dublin, London, Frankfurt, Milan, Zurich, Paris, and Stockholm.
Asia Pacific & South America: Tokyo, Seoul, and São Paulo.
Developer Implementation
To start building, developers can activate the service via the AWS Marketplace and point their SDKs to the new regional endpoints (e.g., https://aws-external-anthropic.<REGION>.api.aws). The platform supports the latest models, including Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Haiku 4.5, which were launched in April 2026.
