Google Expands Audio Overviews

Google has rolled out support for 76 new languages in its AI-powered Audio Overviews feature within NotebookLM, the company's intelligent note-taking and research assistant. This tool allows users to generate podcast-style summaries of uploaded documents using AI virtual hosts.

The goal is to provide a more accessible way for users to absorb information from sources like course readings, legal papers, or research documents, now available in a much wider range of languages.

New Language Option Added

Along with the expansion, Google has introduced a new “Output Language” setting. Previously, Audio Overviews were only generated in the user's account language. Now, users can select their preferred output language anytime, enabling easier multilingual content creation.

For example, a teacher sharing a mix of resources in Portuguese, Spanish, and English can help students generate summaries in whichever language suits them best.

Languages Now Supported Include

• Popular languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish.
• Regional and emerging languages: Afrikaans, Bengali, Catalan, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and more.
