September 2025 — Google has announced a new feature for its Gemini app: the ability to share custom Gems. Gems are personalized AI setups that let users tailor Gemini to their specific needs, saving time and reducing repetitive prompting.
What’s New
Until now, Gems were private and limited to individual use. With this update, you can now:
Share Gems with friends, family, or coworkers.
Control access just like in Google Drive—decide who can view or edit.
Collaborate more easily, whether it’s for productivity, creativity, or planning.
Practical Use Cases
A vacation guide Gem to organize trips for family and friends.
A story-writing Gem for creative teams.
A personalized meal planner Gem to help a friend with weekly routines.
By turning Gems into shareable resources, Google aims to make Gemini not just a personal assistant, but also a collaborative tool.
