Stopping Scams in Search

Google Search uses AI to block hundreds of millions of scammy results every day. Thanks to major upgrades in our AI tools and detection systems, we now catch 20 times more scam websites than before. These updates help make sure the links you see in Search are safe and real, protecting your personal information from online threats.

Our AI can scan huge amounts of online content, spot scam networks, and detect new types of threats quickly. For example, we’ve seen scammers pretending to be airline customer service reps. Our tools have already reduced these scams in Search by over 80%, helping people avoid calling fake support numbers.

Making Chrome Safer with Gemini Nano

Chrome’s Enhanced Protection mode offers the strongest defense against phishing and online scams, twice as strong as the standard setting.

Now, we’re adding even more protection by using Gemini Nano, our powerful on-device AI. It helps detect scam websites instantly—right on your computer—without sending your data anywhere. This means we can stop new scams before they cause harm. We're already using this tech to block remote tech support scams and plan to expand it to Android and more types of scams soon.

Blocking Scammy Notifications

Scammers sometimes send fake or misleading notifications after you allow a website to send alerts. To fix this, we’re rolling out new AI-powered warnings in Chrome for Android.

Blocking Scammy Notifications

If Chrome thinks a notification is suspicious, it will alert you. You’ll then have the option to unsubscribe or view the blocked content. If the warning is incorrect, you can allow future alerts from that site.

Fighting Call and Text Scams

Scams often start with a phone call or text message that seems normal but turns dangerous. To protect Android users, we’ve added AI-powered scam detection in Google Messages and the Phone app. This on-device AI can warn you when a call or message might be a scam, right as it happens.
