![Gmail end-to-end encryption]()
Google has officially expanded Gmail End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) to mobile devices, allowing users to compose and read encrypted messages natively within the Gmail app on Android and iOS. This update is a major milestone for Client-Side Encryption (CSE) users, enabling secure, mobile-first communication without the need for external portals or third-party apps.

Secure Communication from Anywhere
With Gmail E2EE on mobile, sensitive data remains under the organization’s control while ensuring compliance and data sovereignty. The feature is designed to be user-friendly, allowing encrypted messages to be sent to any recipient:
Native Experience for Gmail Users: Recipients using the Gmail app will see encrypted messages as standard email threads, maintaining a seamless workflow.
Web Portal for Guest Recipients: Those not using the Gmail app can securely read and reply to messages via their web browser, ensuring high-level privacy across different email services and devices.
How to Use Gmail E2EE on Mobile
For Admins: Encryption must be enabled for Android and iOS clients via the CSE admin interface in the Google Workspace Admin Console.
For End Users: To encrypt a message, users simply tap the lock icon while composing an email and select "Additional Encryption." Attachments can be added and sent as normal, with the system handling the encryption in the background.
Availability
The feature is now available for Enterprise Plus customers who have the Assured Controls or Assured Controls Plus add-on. It has reached full availability for both Rapid and Scheduled Release domains.
This update reflects a growing industry trend toward "security by default" on mobile platforms, providing enterprise-level protection for the C# Corner community of professionals who need to manage confidential data while working remotely.
