![Google Home app]()
October 1, 2025 – Google has unveiled a major redesign of the Google Home app, making Gemini AI the centerpiece of the smart home experience.
Smarter, AI-First Home Management
The revamped app now integrates Gemini for Home, allowing users to:
Search and control devices with natural language – ask “Show me when the garage door opened last night” and get both an answer and a video clip.
Receive AI-generated summaries – condensing hours of camera footage into digestible recaps.
Get richer, contextual notifications – not just motion alerts, but detailed insights like “child left backyard through gate.”
Unified Experience Across Devices
The new design emphasizes a streamlined dashboard with:
A Home tab for quick access to devices, cameras, and routines.
A Security tab for monitoring Nest Cams and Doorbells.
A History feed powered by Gemini that intelligently highlights events.
Built for Developers and Partners
With Gemini at the center, Google is positioning the Home app as a platform for third-party hardware as well. Partner devices, such as Walmart’s onn cameras, will also tap into Gemini-powered features through the Home app.
Rollout
The new app begins rolling out in October 2025 in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia.
More countries will follow in early 2026.
