Poe by Quora launches API with access to 100+ AI models

Poe plateform

Quora’s AI platform Poe has launched a powerful new API that enables developers to seamlessly integrate over 100 AI models into their apps and tools. The announcement, made Thursday, highlights Poe’s commitment to making advanced AI more accessible and versatile for creators and developers alike.

Unlike many other platforms, Poe's API comes at no additional cost. Instead, developers use their existing point-based subscriptions, where each model call deducts a set number of points. For example, generating a 1024x1024 image using GPT-4o in a 1:1 aspect ratio would cost 328 points.

Flexible Subscription Plans

Poe’s subscription tiers are designed for both hobbyists and large-scale developers.

  • $4.99/month: 10,000 points per day
  • $19.99/month: 1 million points per month
  • $49.99/month: 2.5 million points per month
  • $99.99/month: 5 million points per month
  • $249.99/month: 12.5 million points per month

Need more? You can purchase additional tokens at a flexible rate of $30 per 1 million points, without being locked into fixed packages.

Broad Compatibility and Capabilities

Poe

The API is OpenAI-compatible, making it easy to integrate with popular tools like Cursor, Cline, Continue, Roo, and others. Developers can access a vast library of multimodal AI models, spanning text, image, voice, and video. These include models like GPT Image 1, Imagen 4, Seedream 3.0, Veo 3, Runway Gen 4 Turbo, Kling 2.1, ElevenLabs, Lyria, and more.

According to Gareth Jones, Poe’s Product Lead for Creators and Developers, they’re currently working on allowing API access to private bots built on Poe. They also plan to enhance API key management and may introduce budget tracking tools, depending on developer feedback.

Tools Beyond the API

In addition to developer-facing tools, Poe also supports consumer-friendly features, including drag-and-drop AI app builders and pre-designed templates for creating server bots, prompt bots, and image-generation bots.

As Poe continues to evolve, it’s quickly positioning itself as a go-to hub for developers seeking flexible, multimodal, and affordable access to the world’s most advanced AI models.
