Google has introduced six new Lock Screen widgets for its AI assistant, Gemini, making it easier for iPhone users to access AI-powered features without opening the app. The update also adds Control Center access, allowing users to interact with Gemini faster than ever.
What’s New?
With this update, iPhone users can now use Gemini directly from the Lock Screen with these new widgets.
Type Prompt: Quickly type a question and get an instant response.
Talk Live: Speak to Gemini and hear its reply in real time.
Open Mic: Use voice commands to set reminders, create calendar events, and more.
Use Camera: Take a picture and ask Gemini for insights.
Share Image: Upload an image for analysis, inspiration, or creative ideas.
Share File: Share documents or files to get AI-powered assistance.
Google has also added Gemini access to the iPhone’s Control Center, so that users can launch the assistant even faster.
Competing with ChatGPT
With these new widgets, Gemini now offers more features on the iPhone Lock Screen than ChatGPT, which currently has only two widget options. While Google is still working on bringing Gemini Live’s video and screen-sharing features to the iPhone, this update gives Gemini an edge in accessibility and ease of use.
How to Get the Update?
The new Gemini Lock Screen widgets are rolling out now. Users can download or update the Google Gemini app from the App Store to try them out.
With these improvements, Google is making AI more accessible, helping iPhone users interact with Gemini faster and more easily than ever before.
