28 August 2025 – Tether, the world’s largest digital assets company, has announced the launch of USDT on RGB, a next-generation protocol for issuing digital assets directly on Bitcoin.

RGB, which recently went live on mainnet with its 0.11.1 release, is designed to extend Bitcoin’s utility beyond being a store of value. The protocol enables private, scalable, and user-controlled issuance of assets—paving the way for stablecoins to operate natively on Bitcoin.

With this integration, USD? can now be transacted directly on Bitcoin’s secure and decentralized network. This means users worldwide will gain access to fast, private, and lightweight payments while holding USD? and Bitcoin within the same wallet. Additionally, RGB’s design supports offline transactions, enhancing sovereignty and privacy for users.
