REDMOND, Wash. — January 21, 2026 — Microsoft has announced that the Xbox app is now available on ARM-based Windows 11 PCs, marking a significant step toward expanding gaming access across new PC form factors.
With the update, users running Windows 11 on ARM-powered devices can download and use the Xbox app to browse games, manage their library, connect with friends, and access Xbox services. The move reflects Microsoft’s broader effort to make Windows on ARM a more complete platform for everyday computing and entertainment.
Microsoft said the ARM release supports key Xbox app features, including Game Pass discovery, social features, achievements, and cloud-based play. While native PC game installation remains limited on ARM hardware, users can stream titles through Xbox Cloud Gaming, enabling play without relying on local processing power.
The company positioned the update as part of its “Play More” initiative, aimed at reducing hardware barriers and letting players access games across more devices. ARM-based Windows PCs are increasingly popular for their battery life, portability, and always-connected capabilities, and Microsoft said gaming support is evolving alongside those strengths.
The Xbox app for ARM is available now via the Microsoft Store for supported Windows 11 devices. Microsoft said it will continue improving gaming experiences on ARM as hardware performance, emulation, and cloud capabilities advance.
With the launch, Microsoft reinforces its view that PC gaming is not limited to traditional x86 systems, and that cloud-powered experiences will play a growing role in how and where games are played.
